The sale of knives is regulated by the Laws of England, and subject exclusively to our Terms & Conditions of Sale. We reserve the right to refuse a sale if we have reasonable cause to believe that the prospective customer is below the age of 18 years, or if we believe that the supply of goods to the prospective customer may infringe the Laws of England or present an unacceptable potential risk to the safety of others. Our aim at Colonial Knives is to promote the safe use and collecting of high quality handcrafted cutlery. For this reason, we always take steps to ensure that our knives and tools are promoted in a responsible manner. If you have a complaint about the way in which we market any of our products please give us the chance to explain or correct our marketing plan. Knife Safety

Your knife is a tool, please treat it with care and use it with respect. A knife is an inanimate object, it won't hurt you, but a blunt or carelessly handled knife can cause injury. Keep a keen edge on your blade and exercise caution when sharpening. Use your knife with due care and attention, as you would with any other tool, and never use a knife for a purpose for which it is not intended nor specifically designed. Never threaten anybody with a knife (even as a joke), as this is a serious Criminal Offence and never leave your knife where it may be accessible to a child. Keep it stored securely, preferably in a sheath or case.

Basic laws on knives: (https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives)

It is illegal to:

  • use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife)
Lock knives are not classed as folding knives and are illegal to carry in public without good reason. Lock knives:
  • have blades that can be locked and refolded only by pressing a button

Knives & Children

The knives we sell are not toys, and are generally not suitable for use by children. It is our policy to promote our knives only to customers over the age of 18.

We believe however that use of knives by people under the age of 18 under appropriate supervision will promote the understanding and knowledge of knives as useful and enjoyable tools.
